The HKI Cert Database for Residential Solid Fuel Appliances supports manufacturers in meeting the requirements of the German Federal Immission Control Ordinance (1st BImSchV) and in providing transparent, reliable information on emissions and efficiency to end customers across Europe. Registering appliances in the database serves as official proof of compliance with the requirements of the 1st BImSchV.
The database provides clear information on compliance with the transitional provisions for existing single-room heating appliances, the first and second stages of the 1st BImSchV, and the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1185.
In addition, it documents compliance with key European and national regulations and incentive schemes, including the Austrian Agreement pursuant to Article 15a B-VG, the Swiss Air Pollution Control Ordinance, the Danish wood-burning stove regulation, the French “crédit d’impôt” incentive scheme, and the Italian environmental certification system. The database also provides valuable technical information, such as multiple flue connection capability, connection options for central heating systems, and room-sealed (room air-independent) operation.
It is supported by the German Chimney Sweep Trade Association (ZIV) and the German Association of Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning (ZVSHK). It is officially recognised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Federal States Working Group on Immission Control (LAI) as a valid and trusted tool for demonstrating compliance with the legal requirements of the 1st BImSchV.
