Standards define test procedures, safety requirements, calculation methods and planning principles, and in many cases they are also relevant to market access. Companies involved in their development at an early stage can contribute practical technical experience and help ensure that requirements are both workable and feasible.

HKI is involved in numerous national, European and international standardisation projects. As the external DIN Standards Committee Heating and Cooking Equipment (FNH), and through its participation in other standardisation bodies, the association maintains direct links with DIN, DKE, CEN, CENELEC, ISO and IEC.

Within HKI’s technical committees, new standardisation initiatives are discussed, joint industry positions are developed and specific technical contributions are prepared. Our members receive regular updates on the status of relevant projects and can contribute their technical expertise directly to the standardisation process.

In this way, we support both manufacturers of domestic heating and cooking appliances and companies in the commercial kitchen equipment sector.

Active participation in standardisation helps promote technical quality and safety while also creating appropriate framework conditions for innovation and market access.
