As the capital city office in Berlin, it represents the HKI in the federal capital and represents the association on official occasions, at conferences and at political institutions in Berlin. The office is the contact for ministries, the federal government, political parties and associations. Through background discussions and public communication events on current topics, the association promotes dialogue between politics, business, the skilled trades and civil society.

Due to its proximity to the political process, the HKI provides its members with information on relevant political issues and projects at an early stage. In its regular Capital Newsletter, it informs its members about the current situation, provides assessments and forecasts and comments on some developments.
